I paint with a group of plein air painters, and we paint in some gorgeous locations. One of the best is Valerie Hill Winery, near Stephens City, Virginia. The owners are gracious and kind; the wine is excellent, and best of all, the possible paintings at their location are awe inspiring. While I was painting an old, tumble-down house in the next field, my gaze kept wandering back to the two red chairs under the shade of a cool tree. So I turned my easel around and painted the chairs.
