Session 2 features 2 florals and 1 coastal Maine location
What makes a good painting? The ingredients are: line, size, shape, direction, texture, color, and value. Remember, ONE of these is Dominant. Mix these together in unequal amounts and you are on the path to a good painting. Emphasize one or two of these DESIGN PRINCIPLES: Unity, Balance, Harmony, Dominance, Conflict, Repetition, Variation, Gradation and your painting gets interesting. Lesson 4 on March 6, 2019 will be devoted to helping students design their own paintings using the design elements and principles.
Class format is a video of a demonstration by the instructor during the morning and again after lunch, then the class paints with individual help from Julie. A critique of the class work follows at the end of the day.
